The world has gone totally viral and thanks to research by The Viral Factory for UKTV G2, we can now reveal the top ten, most watched online videos of all time. They’ve all been seen by millions, but which of the web’s most notorious clips came out on top?
1: Star Wars Kid (900 million views)
Otherwise known as Ghyslain Raza, the 15-year-old Star Wars Kid swings that golf ball retriever like he means it. Could it be The Force that propelled him to such dizzy heights of online stardom? Whatever, he’s pissed off and suing his classmates to the tune of £140,000. He didn’t ask to be famous…
2: Numa Numa (700 million views)
The daddy of all lip-syncs, 19-year-old Gary Bolsma discreetly posted a film of himself singing along to a Romanian pop song only to spawn a new online craze for singing along, normally badly but with lots of feeling. Now everybody does it, but nobody is quite as famous as Gary…
3: One Night in Paris (400 million views)
What else does a millionaire heiress have to do apart from idle away the long excruciatingly wealthy hours drinking champagne, shopping and romping in expense hotel suites? Unfortunately you don’t get a link to this one. It’s far too naughty.
You’ll just have to find it for yourself.
4: Kylie Minogue: Agent Provocateur
(360 million views)
Just to prove that Charlene and Ramsay Street are dim and distant memories and may not even have existed at all, the diminutive Aussie temptress gets down to her beautiful bare essentials with an 18 rating…
5: Exploding Whale (350 million views)
What to do with a 8 tonne dead whale? Well, obviously you blow it up, thereby disintegrating the aforementioned non-too-fragrant mammal and leaving only a few small scraps for the seagulls. Or so the theory goes…
6: John West Salmon Bear Fight (300 million views)
American’s voted this one their favourite advert of the year, despite the fact it never showed on US TV and they have never been able to buy John West Salmon. The advertising boys were happy with that one…
7: Trojan Games (300 million views)
“There’s the spread and there’s the hoike” and there’s the reason why the man who looks “so at home in a golden vest” became the most famous Ukrainian on the interweb, courtesy of a US condom commercial.
8: Kolla2001 (200 million views)
A fearsome hybrid of body popping, break dancing and spaghetti, this boy’s moves are just not natural – but as the kid before him will doubtless have wondered as his moment of glory was abruptly forgotten, will David Elsewhere pull at the school disco? We’re guessing not.
9: AfroNinja (80 million views)
All those who have ever lost a fight to a martial arts expert or wished they weren’t fat, unfit and could actually wield a pair of nunchucks, revenge is yours. No, it’s not funny. It isn’t. It really isn’t…
10: The Shining Redux (50 million views)
Here’s Johnny in an award-winning short film, The Shining. On Salisbury Hill. With a happy ending.
